Nearly seven years, then days
Pablo was a healthy 29-year-old with an active social life, a good job and a love of sport. He took finasteride and later dutasteride for nearly seven years without any apparent problems.
Then he briefly stopped, and started again. Within days he describes testicular pain, low libido and crushing fatigue, which turned into severe insomnia, panic attacks and a steady decline in his thinking.
What Pablo describes
- Loss of muscle, and derealisation.
- A stretch he describes as nearly 20 days without sleep.
- Losing his career and his social life.
- Being dismissed by doctors as psychosomatic.
- A supportive family who still struggled to believe him, until they saw the panic attacks.
He describes feeling like an old man trapped in a young body.
