In this interview, Derek Blumke talks about his own experience of taking finasteride, and about what he sees as overprescribing in the United States. He is the Veteran Impact Fellow at the Grunt Style Foundation, and he explains the foundation’s mission and his part in it.
He says overprescribing is a particular problem for people who serve, or have served, in the US armed forces. The interview also covers SSRIs, and what Moral Medicine’s title calls the veteran mental health crisis.
His own prescriptions
He says the VA, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, prescribed him finasteride for hair loss, along with several other prescription drugs. He describes how, in his view, this harmed his life.
