Several years without problems
Ardalan took finasteride for almost 10 years. For the first several years, he says, he had no major problems with it.
Around the fourth year, he says, he began to have cognitive symptoms. He describes them as debilitating, and says they deeply affected his life. He did not connect them to the medicine, and kept taking it for several more years.
What happened when Ardalan stopped
When he came to believe the medicine was behind his neurological symptoms, he stopped taking it. He says his symptoms then got worse.
Moral Medicine files his story under Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS), the term the channel uses.
